Japanese industrial production drops in May compared to April

In May, Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production declined by 0.1 percent as compared to the previous month, showing a decrease for the first time in three months. Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the country's industrial production in May witnessed an increase of 20.2 percent.
 
In May, seasonally adjusted iron and steel production in Japan declined by 0.1 percent, while producers' iron and steel shipments rose by 6.7 percent and iron and steel inventories were down 2.3 percent, all compared to the previous month.
