Japanese auto output up 18.6 percent in January

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), Japanese automobile production in January this year totaled 837,197 units, increasing by 131,090 units or 18.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, after a four consecutive months of year-on-year increase.

Domestic sales in January in Japan stood at 415,931 vehicles, up 36.2 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in the month in question amounted to 380,295 units, up by 15,107 units or 4.1 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $11.58 billion, including $8.7 billion for vehicles and $2.9 billion for parts. This is an increase of $884 million or 8.3 percent as compared with the $10.7 billion recorded for the same month of the previous year.
