Japanese auto output falls 29.2 percent in January-June

Japan's automobile production in the first half of this year was recorded at 3,429,934 units, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). The figure represents a decrease of 1,413,836 units or 29.2 percent compared to the same period of 2010, after a 45.8 percent increase recorded in H1 2010 compared to H1 2009.

Japanese automobile production in June this year totaled 742,431 units, decreasing by 119,674 units or 13.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year after nine consecutive months of decrease.
 
Domestic sales in June this year stood at 351,828 vehicles, down 21.6 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year.
 
Meanwhile, the country's automobile exports in the January-June period of 2011 totaled 1,840,164 units, down 483,934 units or 20.8 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $59.02 billion, including $41.2 million for vehicles and $17.8 billion for parts. This revenue indicates a fall of 10.8 percent as compared to H1 2010.
