Japanese auto output down 9.9 percent in Jan

Japanese automobile production in January this year totaled 754,054 units, decreasing by 83,138 units or 9.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. January was the fifth consecutive month in which a year-on-year decrease was registered in Japan's automobile output, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).

Domestic sales in January this year in Japan stood at 383,499 vehicles, down 7.8 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in January amounted to 345,554 units, down by 34,741 units or 9.1 percent year on year, constituting the sixth consecutive month of year-on-year decrease. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $11.17 billion, including $8.12 billion for vehicles and $3.05 billion for parts. This is a decrease of $385.82 million or 3.3 percent as compared with $11.5 billion recorded for the same month of the previous year.
