Izhstal receives first equipment supplies for modernization

Izhstal, a subsidiary of the Russian mining and steel producing group Mechel, has announced that it has started to receive equipment under its facility's reconstruction and modernization program.

Within the scope of the contract concluded with Italian plantmaker STS Selected Technological Supplies S.R.L. for supply of equipment for the installation of a new concaster at Izhstal's EAF workshop, the first delivery of the mill's components has been made. Meanwhile, another Italian plantmaker Danieli has made its first delivery of equipment for Izhstal's rolling workshop.

In addition, Izhstal continues to receive steel joints to be used in the modernization of its oxygen generating plant.

In the near future, Izhstal will begin receiving equipment from Italian engineering firm TENOVA S.p.A. for modernization of its water preparation and gas purifying units. Moreover, Italian producer of equipment for the metallurgical sector Siemens VAI Metals Technologies S.r.l has stated its readiness to ship 250,000 mt of equipment for the modernization of Izhstal's longs producing mill 250.
