Vicenza, Italy-based steel producer AFV Beltrame Group has announced it has decided to reopen its merchant bar rolling mill at its San Giovanni Valdarno site in Arezzo in Tuscany, reversing the closure announcement made one year ago.

Local government officials have expressed satisfaction with the new decision made by AFV Beltrame, and confirmed that they will provide all necessary support to help Beltrame relaunch rolling operations at the mill.

AFV Beltrame is planning to restart production in early January next year. However, despite the planned restart of rolling activity restart, the production capacity utilization is expected to be low.

The San Giovanni Valdarno mill, originally founded in 1872, was purchased by Beltrame in 2002 within the scope of its acquisition of Italian steel company Siderurgica Ferrero.
