In 2012, Italy's steel exports to non-EU countries reached 5.894 million metric tons, up by 19.1 percent, while its steel imports from non-EU sources totaled 5.884 million metric tons, down 32.9 percent, both compared to 2011, according to the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai.
