Italy’s new industrial orders down 14.3 percent in March

According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in March this year the turnover of Italian industry was unchanged month on month but was down 3.1 percent year on year.

In March, on month-on-month basis, the seasonally-adjusted turnover index in Italy rose 7.1 percent for energy and one percent for intermediate goods, but decreased by 4.4 percent for instrumental goods and by 0.3 percent for consumer goods.

With regard to total new orders for Italian industry, in March this year there was a month-on-month increase of 3.5 percent and a year-on-year fall of 14.3 percent.

In the first three months of the current year, the average Italian industry turnover index value was down 1.4 percent, while the average Italian industry new orders index value decreased by 5.1 percent, both compared to the preceding three-month period.
