According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in September this year the seasonally adjusted index of Italian industrial production decreased by 1.5 percent compared to August and was down 4.8 percent compared to September 2011 when we consider the data adjusted for calendar effects.
Meanwhile, in the third quarter Italy’s industrial production decreased by 0.1 percent compared to the second quarter this year. Moreover, in the first nine months the index decreased by 6.5 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
Italy’s index of metal and metal products production (except equipment and machinery) fell 1.8 percent in September compared to August and was up 0.9 percent in Q3 compared to Q2. Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the index decreased by 4.7 percent in September and by 7.4 percent in January-September.
