Italy’s construction output index falls 12.1 percent in Q1

In March this year, the Italian seasonally adjusted construction output index again decreased by 4.1 percent month on month following the 4.1 percent month-on-month decline observed in February, as announced by Istat, Italy's national statistics office. The average index value for the January-March quarter decreased by 7.2 percent compared to the previous quarter.

Meanwhile, the calendar adjusted index of production in Italy's construction sector in March this year decreased by 20.9 percent compared with March last year (calendar working days were 21 versus 22 in March 2012). In the first quarter, the index was down 12.1 percent year on year.
