According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in July this year Italian industry's turnover was up 1.2 percent month on month and down 5.3 percent year on year.
In July, on month-on-month basis, the seasonally-adjusted turnover index in Italy increased 4.9 percent for instumental goods, while it was down 0.3 percent for intermediate goods, 0.6 percent for consumer goods and up 3.8 percent for energy.
In the sector of metal industry and metal products manufacturing (excluding equipment and machineries), the year-on-year variation showed the second most negative variation in terms of the seasonally adjusted revenue index, down12.4 percent year on year and the overall worst in terms of the new orders index, down 11.1 percent year on year.
With regard to total seasonally adjusted orders for Italian industry, in July this year there was a month-on-month uptick of 2.9 percent and a year-on-year fall of 4.9 percent.
In May-July, the average Italian industry turnover index value was down 2.4 percent, while the average value of the Italian industry orders index increased 1.1 percent both compared to the previous three month period.
Finally, in January-July, the Italian industry's turnover index decreased 3.5 percent and the industry orders index decreased 10.2 percent compared to the same period 2011.
