Italian longs output down 7.1 percent in H1, flats output up 2.9 percent

The Italian iron and steel federation Federacciai has announced Italy's domestic long and flat steel production results for the month of June and the first half of the current year.

Accordingly, in June this year Italian long steel output amounted to 1.099 million mt, down by 14.7 percent year on year, decreased on year-on-year basis for the eighth month in a row. On the other hand, Italian flat steel production in June increased by 2.7 percent year on year to 1.107 million mt.

In the first six months of 2012, Italian long steel output decreased by 7.1 percent to 6.477 million mt, while domestic flat steel production increased by 2.9 percent to 7.902 million mt, both year on year.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter this year domestic outputs of both long steel and flat steel decreased compared to the first quarter.
