In September this year, Italian long steel output decreased on year-on-year basis for the 11th month in a row, declining by 16.7 percent year on year to 1.021 million metric tons. In comparison with September 2009, Italian long steel output was down 11 percent in September of the current year.
On the other hand, in September this year Italy’s flat steel production decreased by 0.9 percent year on year to 1.325 million metric tons.
In the third quarter of this year, Italian long steel output declined by 15.7 percent to 2.366 million metric tons, while Italian flat steel output indicated an increase of 2.7 percent to 3.374 million metric tons, both year on year. As regards the first nine months of the current year, Italy’s long steel output decreased by 9.7 percent to 8.826 million metric tons, whereas domestic flat steel production rose by three percent to 11.295 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis.
