In July this year, crude steel production in Italy amounted to 2.123 million metric tons, up 1.8 percent year on year, as announced by the Italian steel producers association Federacciai. Italian crude steel output had increased in June, after decreasing in both April and May this year, all on year-on-year basis. July's figure is the best year-to-date production volume after March's 2.257 million mt.
The production volume recorded in July this year is also higher than 1.931 million mt in July 2015, 2.094 million mt in July 2014 and 2.115 million mt in July 2013, while it is lower compared to the 2.405 million mt recorded in July 2012.
In the January-July period of the current year, Italian crude steel production amounted to 14.492 million metric tons, increasing by 1.8 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in June this year, Italy's long steel output amounted to 1.031 million metric tons, decreasing by 4.2 percent, while Italian flat steel output totaled 979,000 metric tons, decreasing by 2.5 percent, both year on year.
