In October this year, Italian producers' crude steel output increased by 11.4 percent year on year to 2,133,000 metric tons, as announced by the Italian steel association Federacciai. This value is also up from the 2.047 million metric tons registered in October 2014.
The increase follows a 5.2 percent year-on-year decline in September. Year-on-year rises in output had been recorded in the five months from April to August inclusive.
Italian crude steel output in the January-October period was 19.451 million metric tons, with an increase of 4.2 percent year on year. It is thought that annual production this year could exceed 22 million metric tons.
