Ispat Dolvi begins processing fine iron ore

Indian Ispat Industries Limited (IIL) commissioned a 2.24 million mt capacity sinter plant at its steel plant in Dolvi, Maharashtra. Before commissioning the plant, Ispat was using pellets and lump ore to produce steel. Now, the company will use fine iron ore to produce steel which will reduce production cost significantly. Lump ore is almost 80 percent more expensive than fine ore. Ispat also commissioned a new electric arc furnace at its Dolvi plant recently and increased the capacity from 2.4 million mt to over 3 million mt per year.
