ISD’s steelmaking subsidiaries issue output results for January-August

In the January-August period of the current year, the steelmaking subsidiaries of Ukrainian steel producer Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD) produced a total of 4.331 million mt of pig iron, up 25 percent compared to the same period of last year. In addition, the subsidiaries' crude steel output in the given period increased by 23 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2010, rising to 4.613 million mt. In the first eight months of 2011, ISD companies registered an 27 percent increase in their finished steel production year on year to 4.455 million mt, while their agglomerate output went up by 15 percent year on year to 6.618 million mt.

In particular, in January-August, Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) saw a 29 percent increase in its crude steel production to 2.521 million mt and a 36 percent increase in its finished steel production to 2.495 million mt.

Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD) in the given period increased by 18 percent year on year to 2.092 million mt, while its finished steel output increased by 17 percent year on year to 1.961 million mt.

Alchevsk Coking Plant saw its coke production fall by six percent year on year to 1.896 million mt in January-August 2011.

In the given period, Dniepropetrovsk Tube Works increased its steel pipe production by 38 percent year on year to 74,600 mt.
