Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), the steelmaking subsidiaries of the Ukrainian steel producer Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), have issued their preliminary production results for the first nine months of the current year.
Accordingly, in January-September 2010 Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) saw its crude steel production decline by 21.2 percent to 2.21 million mt, its finished steel product output dropped by 19.4 percent to 2.06 million mt, its pig iron production fell by 22.4 percent to 1.964 million mt, while its agglomerate production declined by 3.2 percent to 3.29 million mt, all compared to January-September 2009.
In September this year, Alchevsk produced 225,000 mt of crude steel - up 0.9 percent, 231,000 mt of finished steel products - up 29.8 percent, 195,000 mt of pig iron - down 3.5 percent, and 351,000 mt of agglomerate - down 12.7 percent, all compared to August.
Meanwhile, during the first nine months of the current year, DMKD registered a 22.6 percent decrease in its crude steel production to two million mt, a 24 percent drop in its finished steel product output to 1.88 million mt, a 20.8 percent fall in its pig iron production to 1.9 million mt, and a 12.3 percent decrease in its agglomerate output to 3.14 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
In September, DMKD produced 232,000 mt of crude steel - up 24.7 percent, 210,000 mt of finished steel products - up 36.4 percent, 214,000 mt of pig iron - up 27.4 percent, and 344,000 mt of agglomerate - up 10.3 percent, all compared to August this year.
