Iron ore production in Peru declines in May

Production at Peru's only iron ore producer, Shougang Hierro Peru, reached 522,287 mt in May, according to data released by the nation's energy and mines ministry.

Peruvian iron ore production in May declined 25.3 percent year-on-year, from 699,897 mt, while data for the cumulative period of January-May show a 2.2 percent improvement, year-on-year.

The ministry said iron ore production in the January-May period reached 3.47 million mt, from 3.39 million mt a year prior.
