In June this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland increased by 0.9 percent compared to May this year and were up 14.2 percent year on year, totaling 38.36 million metric tons.
According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, in June of the current year iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 32.6 million metric tons, increasing by 2.83 percent compared to the previous month and up 11.7 percent year on year. South Korea and Japan followed China in May, receiving 2.63 million mt and 2.04 million mt respectively.
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
