In October this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland decreased by 7.31 percent compared to September and were down 2.55 percent year on year, totaling 36.52 million metric tons.
According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, in October of the current year iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 30.73 million metric tons, declining by 9.1 percent compared to the previous month and down 3.1 percent year on year. Japan and South Korea followed China in October, receiving 2.46 million mt and 2.21million mt respectively.
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
