In July this year,
iron ore shipments from
Australia's Port Hedland increased by 4.9 percent year on year and were down 4.25 percent month on month, totaling 14.63 million metric tons, according to Port Hedland Port Authority.
According to the released information,
iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to
China amounted to 9.71 million metric tons in July, regressing by 12.55 percent year on year and down 8.37 percent compared to June. South Korea was the second largest export destination for
iron ore shipments from Port Hedland, with shipments totaling 2.13 million metric tons - up 2.87 times year on year and up 23.22 percent over June. South Korea was followed by
Japan, with
iron ore exports at 1.84 millon metric tons, up 7.87 percent year on year and down 22.41 percent month on month.
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Iron in the
iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western
Australia.
