In November this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland increased by 25.9 percent year on year and were slightly down by 0.4 percent month on month, totaling 19.8 million metric tons, according to Port Hedland Port Authority.
According to the released information, iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 14.73 million metric tons in November, decreasing by 0.1 percent compared to October of the current year and up 24.3 percent year on year. Japan was the second largest export destination for iron ore shipments from Port Hedland, with shipments totaling 2.4 million metric tons - up 23.9 percent year on year and up 10.4 percent from October. Japan was followed by South Korea, with iron ore exports at 2 million metric tons, up 74.2 percent year on year and down 11.7 percent month on month.
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
