Iran’s Aras Khodro Diesel launches truck production

The Aras Khodro Diesel Company, established in Iran's Aras Free Trade Zone, celebrated the opening of its truck factory earlier today. As Iran's first truck maker, the company will initially produce five types of trucks, including tractors, delivery and pick-up trucks. The vehicles will be sold mainly to the government of Iran as the country looks to upgrade its national transportation system. Some of the vehicles will also be exported. The company plans to produce 30'000 trucks per annum on its current production line located in a 125'000m2 area of the factory. Iranian government officials disclose that the factory will allow them to save nearly $300 million annually because they will no longer have to rely solely on imported trucks and parts.
