Iran to see increase in steel capacity

The completion of three state-owned steel projects will add one million metric tons to Iran's annual steel production capacity by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2006). The three projects are: The second phase of the development plan at Mobarakeh Steel Company; the renovation of National Iranian Steel Industrial Group's rolling mill; and Danieli's supplementary project at Khuzestan Steel. Mobarakeh Steel Company's steel production capacity will increase to 4.2 million metric tons from the current 3.8 million metric tons. After the renovation of the rolling mill, the Industrial Group's rolling mill capacity will increase to 470'000 metric tons annually from 105'000 metric tons. Furthermore, Khuzestan Steel will see an increase in production from the current 2.15 million metric tons to 2.4 million metric tons.
