Ipsco to build heat-treated plate mill in Alabama

Canadian-American steel producer Ipsco Inc. has announced that it is building a $45 million steel processing mill in Mobile, Alabama. The mill will produce 172'000 tons of heat-treated plate steel per year to meet rising demand by North American industry. Ipsco's executive vice-president of steel operations, John Tulloch announced that this capacity will enhance the company's strategy of providing value-added products to the market. The new facility is expected to begin production in late 2005.
