On March 9, the government of China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Beijing-based Chinese steelmaker Xinxing Pipes Group.

Xinxing Pipes Group is a large state-owned enterprise operating in the business fields of metal refining and processing, mineral resources development, equipment manufacturing, textiles, energy, and others. In recent years, the enterprise has been actively involved in construction in Inner Mongolia, and has had a fruitful cooperation with the city of Ordos for the provision of urban water supply facilities. According to the latest agreement, the group will invest in the city of Ordos in the areas of equipment manufacturing, gas supply development and coal chemicals, within the scope of a mutually-beneficial relationship between the region and the group.
