India’s steel exports up 66 percent in Q1 FY 2017-18

India’s steel exports during the first quarter ended June 30 of the current financial year 2017-18 increased by 66 percent to 1.387 million mt compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, according to a report issued by India’s Ministry of Steel.

According to the report, steel imports into the country totaled 653,000 mt during the quarter, down seven percent from the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Total finished steel production during the April-June period amounted to 26.3 million mt, rising by seven percent year on year, the report said.
