India’s steel exports see rapid increase

India's steel exports rose 27.65% year on year, from 705'000 tons to 900'000 tons in April-May 2005 period. The steep increase in steel exports is largely attributed to the high international prices during the February-March 2005 period. In addition, steel imports experienced a significant increase particularly from CIS countries such as Ukraine.
