India’s NMDC plans Greenfield iron ore mine through joint venture

Indian iron ore miner NMDC Limited is planning to develop a Greenfield- Deposit13- iron ore block at its existing reserves in Chhattisgarh in joint venture with Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Limited, a company official said on Monday, September 25.

The official said that the mining lease for this block has been finalized and that the mine would make a significant contribution to NMDC’s targeted ramp-up of iron ore production to 67 million mt per year by 2022, from the current level of 34 million mt at present.

The capital expenditure and capacity of the greenfield mine will be decided upon formation of the joint venture, the official added.
