India’s industrial production index for core sectors up 5.3 percent in November

The industrial production index for India's core sectors, which accounted for 26.7 percent of overall index, including steel industry rose 5.3 percent in November over October this year. The month on month growth rate of index was 3.8 percent in October while the index had increased 0.8 percent month on month in November 2008.

Indian finished steel production recorded a growth of 11.7 percent in November this year which compared to a decline of 6.3 percent in November 2008. Finished steel production grew 2.9 percent during April-November period of FY 2009-10, compared with an increase of three percent during the same period of 2008-09.
