India's monthly industrial production in May this year rose by 11.5 percent year on year. May was the eighth straight month in which a double-digit rise in industrial output was recorded and follows a revised 16.5 percent increase in April.
 
Among the various industrial sectors, in May metal products and parts, excluding machinery and equipment, showed a growth of 39.8 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, industrial production in India's basic metal and alloy industry in May improved by 9.4 percent as compared to May 2009.
