India's basic metal output up 8.3 percent in May

In May this year, India's industrial production increased by 4.7 percent year on year, according to government data. Industrial production in the April-May period of the current fiscal year increased by four percent year on year.

Production in India's manufacturing sector decreased by 4.8 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year, while in the April-May period of the current fiscal year, the Indian manufacturing sector saw a 3.7 percent year-on-year rise in output.
 
The industrial output index in India's basic metal sector in May this year increased by 8.3 percent, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, rose by one percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the April-May period of the current fiscal year, the output index for basic metals increased by 8.7 percent, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, increased by 3.2 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
 
On the other hand, the output of the industry segment of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers declined by 7.4 percent year on year in May and decreased by 1.1 percent in the April-May period, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
