During April-August period of the current year, Indian steel exports declined by one percent to 1.92 million mt during compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, according to a statement issued by India’s Ministry of Steel on September 20, Thursday.
In the given period, non-alloy steel exports constituted 1.74 million mt of the total exports, while alloy steel contributed 179,000 mt. The contribution of non-alloy steel exports grew by one percent, while exports of alloy steel declined sharply by 19 percent during the period, the ministry said.
Galvanized sheets and coils were the major category in the steel exports at 642,000 mt during April-August 2012 followed by hot rolled coils (HRC) exports standing at 468,000 mt.
