Indian sponge iron units resume production

According to reports from India, seventy closed sponge iron units in Chhattisgarh, India resumed production, following Indian government's announcement that these units would be supplied with iron ore and coal regularly. The closed sponge iron units produce 30 percent of the country's total sponge iron output. President of Chhattisgarh Sponge Iron Manufacturers' Association indicated that the government would help the closed units overcome the recurring iron ore crisis and coal linkage problems.
