Indian ports record 33% growth in iron ore traffic during April-May period

Iron ore traffic through 12 major ports in India recorded a 33 percent rise during the first two months (April-May) of the current fiscal year 2017-18, according to data released by Indian Ports Association.

Port traffic data showed that iron ore volumes through Indian ports was recorded at 9.96 million mt during April-May period, compared to 7.47 million mt during corresponding period of previous financial year. 

Meanwhile, the volume of coking coal handled by these 12 ports rose by 13 percent at 9.30 million mt during the same period.
