Indian motor vehicle output up 9.28 percent in April-February

In the first 11 months of the financial year 2014-15 (started April 1), Indian motor vehicle production (including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers) increased by 9.28 percent year on year to 21,468,103 units, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

In the April 2014-February 2015 period, passenger vehicle sales in India increased by 4.03 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, while the country's commercial vehicles segment registered a fall of 3.39 percent in sales, both on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in the period in question, India's total motor vehicle exports increased by 8.97 percent year on year. Passenger vehicle exports registered an increase of 5.82 percent, while commercial vehicle exports rose by 12.37 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
