Indian motor vehicle output up 4.41 percent in February

In February this year, Indian motor vehicle production increased by 4.41 percent year on year to 1,811,276 units, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

In the first 11 months of the current Indian fiscal year (started April 1, 2013), motor vehicle sales in India increased by 2.68 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, while the country's passenger vehicle sales during the period in question declined by 5.91 percent and the commercial vehicles segment registered a fall of 19.71 percent in sales, both on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, from April 1, 2013 until the end of February 2014 India's total motor vehicle exports increased by 6.39 percent year on year. Passenger vehicle exports registered a year-on-year increase of 6.44 percent, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 8.12 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
