Indian motor vehicle output up 22.5 percent in September

In September this year, Indian motor vehicle production (including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers) increased by 22.45 percent year on year to 2,227,140 units, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

In the first six months of the current Indian fiscal year (started April 1, 2014), passenger vehicle sales in India increased by 4.25 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, while the country's commercial vehicles segment registered a fall of 10.14 percent in sales, both on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in the first six months of the current Indian fiscal year, India's total motor vehicle exports increased by 20 percent year on year. Passenger vehicle exports registered a year-on-year decrease of 0.93 percent, while commercial vehicle exports increased by 15.55 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
