Indian motor vehicle output down 4.61 percent in October

In October this year, Indian motor vehicle production (including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers) decreased by 4.61 percent year on year to 2,088,003 units, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

In the first seven months of the current Indian fiscal year (started April 1, 2014), passenger vehicle sales in India increased by 2.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, while the country's commercial vehicles segment registered a fall of 9.14 percent in sales, both on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in the first seven months of the current Indian fiscal year, India's total motor vehicle exports increased by 19.8 percent year on year. Passenger vehicle exports registered a year-on-year decrease of 0.06 percent, while commercial vehicle exports increased by 13.93 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
