Indian iron ore exports up 88 percent in September

In September, India's iron ore exports totaled 6.25 million mt, increasing by 88 percent year on year, due to the growth of demand from China and also due to the base effect arising from the global economic crisis which started in September last year.

Meanwhile, in the first half of the current Indian fiscal year (started April 1, 2009), the country's iron ore exports amounted to 45.03 million mt, posting a year-on-year rise of 13.14 percent.
