According to international news reports, the Indian government plans to challenge recent import duties placed on steel pipes. The Indian government will request "consultations" at the WTO, according to the reports, and challenge accusations that the government subsidizes the manufacture of steel pipe.

The announcement comes after the US Department of Commerce (DOC) set preliminary duties of over 200 percent on circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe from India. A final decision on the dumping allegation is anticipated in August.
