India changes policy on scrap import

The Ministry of Commerce set a new policy requiring foreign suppliers of scrap to be registered with India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade. Rohit V. Shah, the President of the Bombay Metal Exchange commented that, since most of the raw material needs of domestic recycled industry come from overseas, this restriction will lead to a decrease in import volumes.
