Ilyich starts to upgrade basic oxygen furnace No. 1

Ukrainian steelmaker Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich), a subsidiary of Ukraine's largest vertically-integrated mining and steel group Metinvest, has announced that in September it has commenced a large-scale general repair of its basic oxygen furnace No. 1.

Metinvest Group is going to allot about UAH 122 million ($9.2 million) for the implementation of the project in question, with UAH 90 million ($6.8 million) of the amount to be spent on the adoption of environmental technologies. The entire procedure of the general repair is to be completed over a period of two months.
