Ilyich sees reduced steel production in January-May

Ukrainian steelmaker Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol, a subsidiary of Ukraine's largest vertically-integrated mining and steel group Metinvest, has announced that in the January-May period of the current year its output of rolled products decreased by 10.4 percent year on year to 1.597 million mt.

The plant's steel production in the given period fell 16.1 percent to 1.821 million mt, while its pig iron production rose by 10.6 percent to 1.597 million mt, and its agglomerate output increased by 1.5 percent to 5.433 million mt, all year on year.

In May alone, the company produced 322,000 mt of rolled products, 374,000 mt of steel, 436,000 mt of pig iron and 1.161 million mt of agglomerate.

In June this year, the company plans to produce 373,000 mt of steel, 453,000 mt of pig iron and 1.065 million mt of agglomerate.
