The Latin American Iron and Steel Institute (ILAFA) announced Monday that it has changed its name to the Latin American Association of Steel (Alacero), effective immediately. According to a press release from Alacero, the new name will better represent the value chain of steel in Latin America.

Daniel Novegil, President of Alacero and steelmaker Ternium, said that by changing the name, Alacero "offers the opportunity to communicate the strengths of the industry in a clear and unified manner."
