Hungary’s Ózd Steelworks plans to increase production

Hungary-based long steel producer Ózd Steelworks, Ltd., owned by Max Aicher Group, has announced that it is planning to increase its annual longs production to 500,000 metric tons to meet steel bar and wire rod demand in the surrounding region. The existing electric arc furnace (EAF) capacity of the plant is 400,000 metric tons per year, while its rolling mill has an annual capacity of 550,000 metric tons.
 
In addition, in order to begin the production of special quality steel, the company has decided to launch in the near future the modernization of its continuous casting unit as well as the partial renovation of its rolling mill shop and melting shop. The modernization in question is to be conducted by one of the top European technology suppliers.
 
Ózd Steelworks produces reinforcing bars and rounds with diameters of 8-32 mm, as well as wire rods with diameters of 5.5-12 mm.
