Honda continues good run

Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co. Ltd. disclosed production, domestic sales and export results for April 2005. The company's domestic production rose 8.1% year on year to 97'710 units in April due to the increase in production of new export models. Overseas production also saw a year-on-year rise of 10.5% to 179'056 units. Honda's production in Asia continues its strong performance, rising 18.8% to 42'444 units. US production rose 16% to 78'092 units. Sales in Japan amounted to 52'796 units in April, an increase of 11.3% year on year. The sales of passenger cars and mini vehicles rose 5.7% and 20.6% year on year to 31'304 units and 21'492 units in April, respectively. Total exports, rose 18.5% to 45'487 units in April, beating the previous year's record. Honda's exports to North America reached 18'755 units, down 2% year on year. On the other hand, exports to Europe rose 34.3% to 13'694 units.
