Hebei Steel reports strong progress in China’s 11th five-year plan period

In China's 11th five-year plan period (2006-2010), Hebei Province-based Chinese steel producer Hebei Steel Corporation (Hebei Steel) produced 175.36 million mt of pig iron, up 90.55 million mt, and 190.02 million mt of crude steel, increasing by 95.83 million mt - both compared to the respective volumes registered by Hebei Steel during the country's 10th five-year plan period (2001-2005).

By the end of 2010, Hebei Steel's annual crude steel production capacity reached 50 million mt, ranking first in China and second in the world.

During the period under review, Hebei Steel Corporation dismantled a total of 14 blast furnaces with capacities of 450 cubic meters and lower as well as six converters of capacities below 30 mt.
