China's Hebei Province will now eliminate over 1 million mt of annual backward or outdated steelmaking capacity in the current year, as compared to the original target of 850,000 mt, as announced by the provincial government. The province has adjusted its 2012 backward steelmaking capacity elimination target as Xingtai Steel lately dismantled its blast furnaces Nos. 2 and 4 and as Delong Steel has in recent days started to dismantle two 205 m3 blast furnaces.

The original 850,000 mt capacity elimination target included one 208 m3 blast furnace of Hebei Yuansheng Iron & Steel Co., one 325 m3 blast furnace of Wu'an Guangyao Casting Industry Co. and one 208 m3 blast furnace of Wu'an Hengbao Foundry Co.
